Hi Friends and Neighbors,

As we begin a new campaign season here is a quick update on what's been happening for the past year or so. Last summer I accepted the position as the Executive Director for AVNA (Auburn Visiting Nurse Association). Some of you may remember that I mentioned my high regard for visiting nurses at the last city council debate. I am so pleased to be serving in a leadership role for a visiting nurse association once again!

But don't think for a minute that I haven't been paying attention to Ward 5 issues. From proposed sewer fees, to proposed zoning changes, to ongoing City Council meetings, I have kept up to date, participated in local meetings, assisted others to attend meetings and generally remained involved in our political process.

Because I believe an informed public makes the best decisions, I also participated as Moderator for an educational event at the Holyoke Community College Kittredge Center last summer.

This Tax Forum event addressed how each resident is affected by the tax structure. Attendees found the program useful and I look forward to working with individuals throughout the ward and city to provide more public events like this.

On a personal note, we celebrated my Dad's 80th birthday in December. Happily, he is still driving, golfing and partying at Hiram's down in sunny Florida! We also celebrated a milestone birthday for my sister Sandy this past year; the big 50!

So between work, local events, and fun, you won't often hear me complain of boredom. But you know how it goes. If you want something done, ask a busy person! Yes, I have the time and energy to devote to this campaign. I look forward to visiting you to update myself on your current concerns and ideas.
